Bristol Rovers 0-3 Morecambe

Rovers went into this game looking for there first 3 points of the season, but after all 3 of Morecambe's goals came in a ten minute spell in the second half, today wasn't Rovers day.
All of Morecambe's goals came as a result of many mistakes the Rovers defence made and they were punished for that.
After a slow start from both teams Rovers began to push forward a bit as the first half came to a finish.  Gary McDonald opened the scoring for the visitors skipping past two defenders and slotting the ball into the back of the net, before defender Nick Fenton made it 2-0  five minutes later, followed by Kevin Ellison who finished of the scoring for the shrimps.  Rovers didn't have a very good start to the game and didn't test the goalkeeper well.  One chance came from Lee Brown who's free kick was caught easily by keeper Barry Roche, when Matt Harrold was caught just outside the box.  Wayne Brown also had a shot in the second half but went wide of the post.  The only other good chance for Rovers came from Eliot Richards who's shots were easily save by the Morecambe goalkeeper.

Rovers were looking to get a good start to the season with there first home game against Oxford United on Saturday 18th August.  Rovers were unfortunate to finish the game losing 2-0 and come away with no points.   This was a disappointing start to the season in the eyes of the players and the fans.  Oxfords first goal came at the 21 minute mark when Jake Forster-Caskey scored from  the edge of the area.  Rovers had many chances, Matt Harold was brought down just outside the box, but Virgo's effort went straight at the wall.  Oxfords second goal came from Alfie Potter just after 30 minutes as he easily ran through the Rovers defence and his shot went straight past Sam Walker.  Clarkson did have a chance to get one back for rovers but his shot was pushed around the bar by Clarke.
